Experiencing the deeper sense of Mission

In view of the Extraordinary Missionary month, we the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambery, Gurugram, Delhiorganized a day's programme for the catechism students at St. Michael's Church. Gurugram on October 13, 2019. One hundred students took active participation with zeal and vigour.

We created interest and desire to draw their attention through showing some video clips about the life of Jesus and his mission as well as about St. Teresa of Child Jesus who is the patroness of the mission.

After the visualization and reflection on the video clips the children had an interaction after which they were divided into four groups to prepare on mission with various activities and the students had a full cooperation and involvement, enjoyed preparing it.

At 12 noon we arranged Holy mass for them in English based on the theme " Baptized andsent: Christ’s Church on mission in the world". The celebrant enlightened the children during sermon that as a Catholic a true follower of Jesus everyone's responsibility is to be a missionary and our mission is to proclaim the good news and give witness to Christ values with faith and vigour.

After the celebration of the holy eucharist we conducted Bible quiz taken from the Gospel of St. Matthew chapters 1 to 10. As we are celebrating the extra ordinary month of mission,we organized a Langar (community kitchen) for the catechism children and savouring the meals together built a feeling of oneness as the early Christian communities thereafter at 2:00 p.m
.
We took them to an old age home run by the Sisters of the Destitute to give them an experience of mission. there they entertained the inmates with the short programme as well as contributed them in small and big ways as a sign of reaching out the peripheries. It was a great experience for all and a chance to reflect, radiate God's Love and service.
