Communication Training by IPCC

The IPCC – Indian Provinces’ Communication Commission held its first training programme for the sisters of the four provinces at Snehalaya, Nagpur, India, from 16 to 18 Feb. 2018. Sixteen sisters of Nagpur and Nirmala provinces participated in this training session. It was organized, prepared and conducted by IPCC members – Sisters Navya, Cecile, Fabiyola and Laveena. All but Fabiyola were present.

The main focus of the program was to train the sisters in journalism; specifically in writing for the website, the CSJournal, the Indian Province website and CSJ Ripples (the common newsletter of the Indian provinces).

After the input sessions the participants had to write articles based on their field visit to the slums of Nagpur where Sr. Philomina Pichapilly has done her ministry for many years. Besides this, theoretical and practical knowledge of photography, group calling through Skype and Zoom, the use of Dropbox, Google drive and the ethical usage of social media were well explained by the team. The group was also introduced to the use of some software - Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

The programme was basic and well-conducted by the IPCC team. The group work organised by them was easily understood and captured the interest of all the participants. The ambiance created by the team empowered the participants to freely ask questions and clarify doubts.

At the evaluation session the sisters expressed gratitude and joy at learning through easy and practical ways and means.   The hard work and meticulous planning of the team was very much appreciated by all the participants.
