Laudato Si : Time for Nature

Responding to Pope Francis’ exhortation we too have planned and executed the following during the Laudato Si week.

Every day we had reflections and prayers based on the given themes.

On 16th May we focussed on the species that are extinct. A video presentation was done on the species extinct from the year 2000 in the world and in India on the plant, animal and bird species. This made us aware of our lack of care for the earth. We had reflections on causes and impact of climate change, nature meditation, each one speaking to a tree and receiving message from it, meditation and sharing in the group on objects from nature, listening to the birds that are praising God and praising God in the name of species that are extinct etc.

Last day as a climax, we reviewed briefly all the days’ themes and prayed over. We felt drawn closer to nature and need to be living in harmony with our environment, taking care of it.

The activities undertaken during this week are: -

We did gardening and field work. Prepared the soil and put down some seeds, watered the plants, disposed off thermocol and plastic stuff. It was an enriching and joyful experience. Let the Creator of our common home be praised.
