INTERCULTURALITY LIVING FOR EFFECTIVE MISSION IN A POST MODERN WORLD.

Participants of the Province Assembly gathered at Snehalaya, for the morning session conducted by Mr. Bosco D’souza and Mr. Brijesh, Auditors, both of whom enlightened the members on various aspects of Finance, and updated rules and regulations concerning Accounting and Auditing.

The Province Bursar continued their presentation by categorically presenting the  Finance Report of the Province.

The afternoon session, began with a prayer and a brief introduction of the resource person, S.M. Michael svd., who was warmly welcomed by a very unique form of Aarthi and a bouquet of fresh flowers.

The Theme of  Fr. Michael’s session was  INTERCULTURALITY LIVING FOR EFFECTIVE MISSION IN A POST MODERN WORLD.

He focussed on three essentials of Religious Life:

  1. To be a witnessing community;
  2. To make a home;
  3. To be in mission;

How can we, as religious, living with diverse cultures, make our communities a home?

Religious communities can be of 4 types:

  • Monoculture Living (one culture/same culture)
  • Cross-Cultural Living (‘A’ culture dominates ‘B’ culture which loses its identity)
  • Multicultural Living (A, B, C, D only live together)
  • Intercultural Living (living and connecting with each other)

  • Inter-Cultural Living is most relevant for effective mission.
  • Culture is the main aspect that separates human beings from animals.

With this input, we concluded the session for the day.
