Seeing beautiful artistic works of wax, makes us wonder how we can make these lovely objects. On 5th September, 2019, the youth of our Parish at Saligao had an amazing opportunity of learning the art of candle making by using old wax collected in our Church to create works of art.
Sr. Lidia (Franciscan Sister) along with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery, cleaned up the old wax. The youth were taught to use paper cups as a mould, and cooled candle wax to shapes of roses and petals. Trial and error method enabled theparticipants to bring out the best in them. All were satisfied to learn this art, and the joy of togetherness, and being creators of beautiful candles from used wax, enlightened the youth of bringing “WEALTH OUT OF WASTE”
A bag making workshop was organized by the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) of Saligao, Goa at St. Joseph’s Convent, from 25th to 30th September, 2019 for different zones of our Parish and also for our migrant women. The women were thrilled, excited and felt very privileged to be part of this program.
Mrs. Maria Fernandesa trained seamstress, was the Resource person who gave her time and voluntary services, and taught the group to make different types of cloth bags, out of old clothes e.g. sling bags, shoulder bags, drawstring bags, and pouches.
Everyone was enthusiastic and the workshop was fruitful. A greatinitiative at recycling by members of the Pastoral Council (PPC) of the Saligao Parish in GOA.
