The Sisters from St. Joseph's Hospital and Sandhyavan, Yerla, continued their project of visiting the surrounding villages, seeing the dire need of the poor people in these areas through a survey they had conducted earlier. Food was an essential commodity for these unfortunate brothers and sisters, since they had not had a proper meal for several days.
So the sisters launched out on their journey of love and service, distributing and sharing food with them. Bags and packets of essential items, carefully packed, were given to the families. The areas visited were in and around Gittikadan, where hardly anyone reached out to them.
Since the sisters had conducted a careful survey of the areas, they could reach out to those who needed the provisions most.
In Kadgaon village, the civic authorities, Sarpanch and authorities from Zilla Parishad, were present during the food distribution. There was much encouragement from the political leaders.
The others areas covered by the Sisters, were near the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, popularly referred to as Lourd Mata., where the residents are ragpickers.
In Yashodanagar, the people are mainly from Chattisgarh; they earn their livelihood from making and selling brooms.
We appreciate our Sisters, who braving the heat, went out of their way to serve these unfortunate needy people who were grateful for what they received.
