Addiction to alcohol and drugs and other harmful substances is one of the leading causes of illness, disability, resulting in 3.3 million deaths globally each year. A step towards de-addiction was held by the members of the institute of Bramha Kumaris at St. Joseph's school. Talks, discussions, power- point slides, meditations, interaction with students took place on the platform.
It was extremely successful as children understood the lacunae in themselves and in the society which lead to smoking , alcoholism and substance abuse.
Students were made aware through this interactive session about how addiction can damage health relationships and well-being over time unless treated. They were taught about how to prevent and avoid consequences and reduce its impact on their lives. Such sessions can help prevent addiction in the future in very large scales.
